Holiday post #9: Los Angeles

Given that the weather is truly appalling, it feels right to look back at photos of sunshine!

But this is the last post about my holiday, I'm sure you're delighted!

Los Angeles was interesting. It was cool to visit, and the view of the beach in Santa Monica was just stunning. I loved the open top bus tour (proper tourists we are!) and seeing the sights - when we landed we could see the Hollywood sign! But there were so many homeless people! they didn't bother people but there just seemed to be loads of them.

It was also nice to be in the only part of the USA that wasn't being impacted by the stupid winter storm!

Then it was back to Heathrow.

Now... must book my next holiday!

Holiday post #8: Brisbane

After the madness of Sydney, we needed to sit down. So we headed for Brisbane.

Initially I thought 'yeah i could definitely live here' especially when the taxi driver told us that winter temperatures don't dip below 20 degrees.

However that means summer is very hot. Very. It was 40 degrees one day, so we just sat by the pool

On the second day we headed for Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. Stunning beaches, but the one day I got burnt. And putting my jeans on top of sunburn the next day for a ten hour flight to LA was unpleasant!

A very smoky Brisbane - the smoke was from bush fires on an island just off the coast!
